Section 1: Basic Information

Praxis Legal Advocates and Legal Consultants started its business in March 2020. The firm has its office in Lahore and represents clients in Gujranwala. It is an all-service firm and provides service on all legal matters with the exception of hardcore crimes (e.gi murder, rape etc).

Section 2: Structure of the Firm

Praxis Legal Advocates and Legal Consultants is a small-sized firm with two partners who are currently looking to hire two associates. The firm has an accountant for handling accounts of the firm. There is no human resource department. The hierarchy of the partners is ‘Junior Partner’, ‘Associate Partner’ and ‘Partner’. The hierarchy among associates is ‘Associate’ and ‘Senior Associate’.

Section 3: Hiring Mechanism

Internship:The firm offers a 4-weeks long summer internship for a stipend of 15,000 PKR. Depending on their competence, the responsibilities of the intern, include, research, replies to notices and assistance in the preparation of briefs.

Associate:The hiring is on a need basis only. The firm hires an associate (as an intern) on a three months probation. During probation, the candidate is paid 25,000 to 30,000 PKR per month. After successful competition of the probation, the candidate becomes an associate, and their salary is increased to 40,000 – 45,000 PKR per month. The bonuses and salary increment of the associate solely depends on their performance. The firm offers commission and finder’s fees to its associates. The percentage/cut of these is decided on a case-to-case basis. Previously the partners have had bad experiences with LUMS Alumni. They mentioned that LUMS alumni were non-serious about the work and had unrealistic expectations from their employer. Due to these experiences, the firm is currently discouraged from hiring LUMS Alumni.
